You’ll be among the first engineers on this team, creating solutions to enhance our users' health and quality of life. Your role goes beyond writing code and building pipelines — you’ll work closely with other teams, aligning with the product’s needs to shape effective solutions. With data as the foundation and "heartbeat" of our app’s features and algorithms, your work will play a critical role in making it reliable and efficient.

Requirements

• We’re building a new team and are looking for an independent developer with 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
• Key technologies you must be experienced with: Python, Apache Spark, AWS, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• We expect you to have a solid foundation in Data Engineering theory, stay up-to-date with industry trends, and quickly learn new skills. If you’ve read Kleppmann’s DDIA, that’s a plus.
• We’re closely following how AI is transforming approaches to tasks and using the latest technologies to boost efficiency. It’s important that you are also familiar with the latest AI code assistance tools.
• Our team is distributed, and we value asynchronous communication, clarity in interaction, an analytical approach, and attention to detail. We expect you to be able to justify your decisions and actively participate in team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• You’ll be one of the first engineers on the team, responsible for the full data processing cycle and driving process optimization and helping shape the architecture.
• You’ll work on building and maintaining an internal Data Lakehouse, enabling other teams to easily access high-quality data.
• You’ll also develop pipelines for data processing within the Lakehouse as well as production features with RT or NRT processing.

• This is a new team that will initially consist of 2-3 Data Engineers, with plans to grow to 6 members within the year. Together, we’ll build an architecture that provides high-quality data to support other teams in product development. Your work will be the foundation for all key features of our product, helping millions of people improve their health and quality of life.
